Choosing a strand is one of the most difficult decision you’ll ever do in your life. It is due to the fact that your future job and even life will be somehow dependent to this. Choosing STEM means that you’re job in the future will be most likely related to the field of Science and Mathematics.

  1. Jobs offered by the STEM strand are abundant and growing. Meaning that it will never be stagnant, it will never stop being important because life now revolves around in Science and Technology. The innovation of life is mostly because of that.

According to the National Science Foundation, in the 21st century, scientific and technological innovations have become increasingly important as we face the benefits and challenges of both globalization and a knowledge-based economy. To succeed in this new information-based and highly technological society, students need to develop their capabilities in STEM to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past.
  3. STEM education helps to bridge the ethnic and gender gaps sometimes found in math and science fields. Initiatives have been established to increase the roles of women and minorities in STEM-related fields. STEM education breaks the traditional gender roles. In order to compete in a global economy, STEM education and careers must be a national priority. Each and every decision made uses an aspect of STEM to understand the implications.
  4. In a technology-based society, technology is forever changing. It’s also used in almost every aspect of our lives. As work places change with updated software, and office equipment and machinery become more advanced, STEM knowledge is vital.
  5. It allows a person to be innovative resulting in possibly developing something that will make a great impact in his life- or probably to the whole world.

STEM education really have a great impact to the world today. In fact, technologies of today wouldn’t be like this id it weren’t for the field related to STEM.
